Over 70 residents in Farola village, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have been rendered homeless after their four-year-old building developed cracks. Locals blame the builder’s negligence and demand immediate action.
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar | August 8, 2025: In a heartbreaking turn of events, more than 70 residents of Harikunj Society in Farola village have been forced to take shelter in a temple, just four years after moving into their dream homes. These flats, constructed in 2019 by Raghuveer Realties builder Deepak Jhunjhunwala, are now on the verge of collapse—leaving families shattered, homeless, and furious.
The building, which was seen as a symbol of achievement for many middle-class families, has developed serious structural damages. Cracks in the main supporting columns have made the structure so unstable that the builder has had to support it with jacks to prevent immediate collapse. However, the Gram Panchayat and Revenue Department have declared the building unsafe and issued a notice for demolition.
The situation has left residents, many of whom spent their life savings to purchase these homes, living under the open sky or packed into the village temple. For the past seven days, these families have been struggling with no alternative accommodation.
The affected citizens allege gross negligence on the part of the builder, accusing him of poor construction quality and of selling flats without proper structural verification. Despite repeated pleas, the builder has refused to compensate the victims, and to make matters worse, local police have not registered a complaint, further aggravating the residents’ frustration.
Now, the homeless families are demanding that criminal charges be filed against builder Deepak Jhunjhunwala and that reconstruction of the damaged building be initiated immediately. The case has sparked anger and sympathy across the region, once again raising concerns over construction quality and regulatory oversight in rural and semi-urban areas.
