Monsoon shifts gears! After cooling Konkan, rain now targets Marathwada and Vidarbha. Mumbai-Pune on a sweaty pause. Orange alert issued. But from May 30, rain may hit the brakes statewide.

Pune| May 29, 2025 : Strong winds are sweeping into Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha is next in line, After drenching Konkan and northern Maharashtra, the monsoon has now shifted its focus.—rain is likely to hit the region within 24 hours.
While Mumbai and Pune have seen the rain clouds clear for now, central Maharashtra is bracing for a fresh spell. Weather officials predict heavy showers across several districts in Marathwada and Vidarbha. Pune and Satara’s Ghat areas are already seeing thick clouds gather, signaling what’s to come.
Meanwhile, Konkan and Goa will continue to receive consistent rainfall over the next five days, unaffected by the shifting weather patterns elsewhere. An orange alert has been issued for six districts, including Amravati, Chandrapur, and Bhandara.
As for Mumbai, light to moderate rain is expected in the next 24 hours. But thanks to rising humidity levels, Mumbaikars can expect a muggy few days ahead.
Weather expert Dr. Anupam Kashyapi adds that a second wave of monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal is moving toward Sikkim through eastern India. So far, about 45% of Maharashtra is under thunderstorm cover. still, after hitting Vidarbha, the system is likely to lose instigation across the state.
From May 30 onward, downfall exertion could decelerate down for nearly a week, bringing sporadic showers and extended dry patches. At the same time, the low- pressure system in the northwest Bay of Bengal is moving gradually, anticipated to bring rain to corridor of West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha in the coming days.
