In a chilling incident, a Mumbai man murdered his 6-year-old stepdaughter and dumped her body into the sea. CCTV footage exposed him. He confessed, citing marital disturbance as the motive.

Mumbai | July 17, 2025:   A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Mumbai’s Antop Hill area, where a 34-year-old man has been arrested for the cold-blooded murder of his 6-year-old stepdaughter. After killing the child, he dumped her body into the sea, triggering shock and outrage across the city.

The victim has been identified as Amyra Sheikh, and the accused stepfather as Imran Khan. According to police, Imran strangled Amyra to death and threw her body into the sea near Bhaucha Dhakka late Monday night.

Amyra lived with her mother Nazia, who had previously been married twice and had five children in total. Amyra was the youngest. Imran, Nazia’s third husband, allegedly saw Amyra as a “barrier” in their married life. She often stayed up late using his mobile phone and also stayed in touch with her biological father, expressing a desire to meet him. These behaviors reportedly irritated Imran and created tension in the household.

On Monday night, Imran took Amyra out around 8 PM under the pretext of a short outing. He led her to the docks, where he strangled her and dumped her body into the sea. After committing the crime, Imran returned home and pretended to help Nazia search for the missing girl. He even accompanied her to the police station at midnight to file a missing person complaint.

However, on Tuesday morning, a fisherman discovered a child’s body near Sassoon Dock, which was later identified as Amyra. Police began a thorough investigation, during which 161 CCTV footages were examined. The footage revealed that Imran was last seen with Amyra before her disappearance.

Confronted with the evidence, Imran confessed to the murder, claiming Amyra’s late-night habits, phone use, and attachment to her biological father were causing “disturbance” in his married life.

A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the Antop Hill police are continuing further investigation into the case.
