On July 22, 2025, the Maharashtra government greenlit a transformative ₹533.85 crore project to build modern sewage systems across these villages, addressing long-standing sanitation challenges. This ambitious initiative, covering areas like Ambegaon, Jambhulwadi, and Phursungi, aims to uplift the lives of thousands of families who have struggled with inadequate drainage and pollution, fostering healthier communities and sustainable growth in Pune’s expanding urban fringe.
These villages, merged into the PMC between 2017 and 2021, have faced significant sanitation issues due to rapid urbanization and outdated infrastructure. Open drains and untreated sewage have long plagued residents, leading to health hazards and environmental degradation. The new sewage system, funded through state resources and PMC contributions, will include advanced treatment plants and underground drainage networks, ensuring proper waste management.
