A 20-year-old youth was found hanging in his lover’s house in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Family alleges murder by the girl’s relatives. Police have launched an investigation; accused are absconding.
A shocking and mysterious death has stirred panic in Ambedkar Vasti, under the Hayat Nagar police station limits in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh. The body of a 20-year-old youth, Saurabh, was found hanging in his lover’s house, leading to widespread suspicion and questions over whether it was a suicide or a murder.
According to police, the incident came to light shortly after Saurabh posted a status with his girlfriend Mohini, also aged 20, on his mobile—just four hours before his death. Both Saurabh and Mohini worked at a potato mill and were reportedly in a relationship for the last two years.
Two days before the incident, tensions flared when ₹10,000 and some of Mohini’s clothes were found in Saurabh’s bag, triggering a panchayat meeting between both families. At that meeting, both parties had agreed to end the relationship. However, in a shocking turn of events, Saurabh was later found dead inside Mohini’s home.
Family Alleges Murder
Saurabh’s father has filed a formal complaint, accusing Mohini’s father Vijaypal and her brothers Kamal and Ramveer of murder, claiming they hanged Saurabh in the room to make it look like a suicide. All three accused, along with Mohini, are currently absconding.
Police Officer Sanjeev Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered and a forensic team is collecting evidence from the scene. The body has been sent for postmortem, and investigation is ongoing.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the village, with residents left stunned at the tragic outcome of a young love story. As police dig deeper into the case, the community awaits clarity on whether this was a tragic suicide—or a well-planned murder.
