Pune | 16 February, 2026- A 17‑year-old boy went missing from a temple in Pimple Saudagar, Pune, sending the local community into a state of alarm. The incident occurred on the morning of 12 February 2026, prompting police to register a kidnapping case against unidentified individuals as they launch an urgent search to locate the teenager.

The missing boy, identified as Shubhnit Devidas Devkar, left home around 10:00 AM to visit a nearby Mahadev Temple. His father, Devidas Vitthal Devkar (47), returned home around 11:15 AM and discovered that his son had not returned. Family members searched the temple and nearby areas without success, leading them to file a missing person report with the police.

Given the sudden disappearance and lack of communication from the teenager, authorities immediately treated the case as a potential abduction. Sub-Inspector Navanath Baburao Chapale is overseeing the investigation and has appealed to the public for any information that may help trace Shubhnit’s whereabouts.

Police have released a detailed description of the boy to aid the search: he is approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, slim, fair-complexioned with a long face. On the day he went missing, he was wearing an olive green T-shirt, blue track pants, and brown chappals. Notably, he was not carrying a mobile phone or money, making it difficult to track him digitally.

The Pune police have intensified search operations, covering nearby streets, public areas, transport hubs, and examining CCTV footage in and around Pimple Saudagar. Authorities stressed that registering a kidnapping case at the outset is standard procedure when a minor disappears under suspicious circumstances, particularly when abduction is suspected.

Child safety experts emphasize that early reporting and community vigilance are critical in locating missing minors quickly. Immediate response, including coordination between law enforcement and family members, significantly improves the chances of a safe recovery. The police are urging anyone with credible information, footage, or eyewitness accounts to contact the local police station immediately.

Residents in Pimple Saudagar have been asked to remain alert, and parents have been cautioned to ensure children’s safety in public spaces. Authorities are also exploring leads from social and digital platforms to locate the teenager.
