Mumbai’s fully underground Metro-3 “Aqua Line” is about to begin full operations, offering seamless connectivity from Cuffe Parade through major stations to SEEPZ and beyond.

Mumbai | October 6, 2025:Mumbai is poised to witness a landmark moment in urban transit as the Metro-3 “Aqua Line” prepares to go fully operational, bridging key stretches from Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai up to SEEPZ and other major stations.

This latest phase includes 11 underground stations such as Science Centre, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai Central, Grant Road, Girgaon, Kalbadevi, CSMT, Hutatma Chowk, Churchgate, Vidhan Bhavan, and Cuffe Parade.The connectivity will significantly streamline the north-south transit corridor of the city, reducing travel time and easing congestion.

The Aqua Line, Mumbai’s first fully underground metro line, spans approximately 33.5 km, with 26 underground stations and one at-grade station. It is designed to integrate with existing transport lines—including suburban rail, other metro lines, and airport connectivity—making interchanges easier for passengers.

The stretch from the Science Museum to Cuffe Parade is expected to be inaugurated on October 8, 2025, marking the completion of this key phase. Observers believe this launch will transform commuter experience, especially for those traveling between South Mumbai and Central/North Mumbai.

As Mumbai readies itself for this new chapter in public transit, authorities are ensuring station readiness, last-mile connectivity, and passenger amenities. The full activation of Metro-3’s Aqua Line signals a major leap in Mumbai’s ambition for a modern, efficient, integrated transport network.
