Navi Mumbai International Airport gets a new police station to ensure safety and security. A total of 108 regular posts have been created, and the jurisdiction is divided from Panvel and Ulwe police stations.

Navi Mumbai, October 7, 2025 — To enhance security at the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Maharashtra government has sanctioned the creation of a new police station. This station has been carved out by dividing the jurisdiction of Panvel and Ulwe police stations, ensuring dedicated coverage for the airport area. A total of 108 regular posts across various ranks have been created to strengthen law enforcement at the airport.

The establishment of this police station comes ahead of the airport’s inauguration, scheduled to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8, 2025. Once operational, the airport is expected to serve approximately nine million passengers annually, making security a top priority. The new police station will be responsible for handling law enforcement, traffic management, and emergency response within the airport premises and surrounding areas.

The creation of the station includes a hierarchy of personnel covering multiple ranks, from inspectors and sub-inspectors to constables and administrative staff. This move is part of a larger strategy to bolster policing and safety measures in Navi Mumbai, which is witnessing rapid urban expansion and increasing air traffic. Authorities aim to ensure that both passengers and airport staff feel safe and that law enforcement can respond efficiently to any incidents.

Local police officials have emphasized that the airport police station will operate in close coordination with nearby Panvel and Ulwe police stations. This arrangement will allow seamless jurisdictional coverage, ensuring that no area within the airport or its vicinity is left unmonitored. Additionally, the new station will focus on proactive measures, including patrolling, surveillance, and maintaining order during peak travel times.

The establishment of the station also aligns with broader plans to strengthen public safety infrastructure across Navi Mumbai. As the city continues to expand, authorities are investing in modern policing techniques and increasing personnel strength to meet the demands of a growing population and increased economic activity. The airport police station will serve as a model for similar setups at other major transportation hubs in Maharashtra.

With the airport expected to become a critical hub for international and domestic travel, the creation of the police station ensures preparedness for emergencies and the ability to manage large crowds effectively. Officials have confirmed that the station will also collaborate with security agencies, disaster management teams, and traffic police to maintain a safe environment for passengers and staff alike.

The launch of this police station represents a significant step toward enhancing law enforcement capabilities in Navi Mumbai. It highlights the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of major infrastructure projects while supporting the efficient operation of the new airport. With 108 posts filled with trained personnel, the police station will serve as a cornerstone for maintaining security and order in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban areas.
