Goons Attack Youth with Sledgehammer in Pune’s Kalvad Vasti, Several Vehicles Damaged

A youth was attacked with a sledgehammer by local goons in Pune’s Kalvad Vasti on Sinhagad Road. Several vehicles were vandalized; police have launched an investigation.

Pune, October 31, 2025 – Tension gripped Kalvad Vasti on Sinhagad Road after a group of men brutally attacked a young man with a sledgehammer and damaged several parked vehicles late Wednesday night. The attackers, believed to be local goons, shouted “We’re brothers from here” while assaulting the victim and vandalizing property, spreading fear among residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth was returning home when he was suddenly surrounded by three men. Without provocation, they began hitting him with a sledgehammer. Locals rushed to intervene, but the accused threatened them and continued damaging nearby two-wheelers and a rickshaw before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained multiple injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police from Sinhagad Road Station arrived at the spot soon after receiving the report. A case of assault, criminal intimidation, and vandalism has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators are now analyzing CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.

Residents claim that such incidents have become increasingly frequent, especially during late-night hours. They have demanded round-the-clock patrolling and a permanent police post in the area to ensure safety. Many locals fear the attackers belong to a group trying to assert dominance and spread terror in the neighborhood.

A senior police officer stated that the department is treating the case seriously. “We have strong leads about the suspects and will make arrests soon. No one will be allowed to take the law into their hands,” he said.

This shocking attack highlights the growing problem of street violence in certain parts of Pune, where citizens continue to call for tighter law enforcement and visible police presence to prevent such crimes in the future.
