Mohali / Punjab, November 1, 2025:Sikandar Shaikh, a national-level wrestler and former Maharashtra Kesari title-holder — has been arrested by Punjab Police in an inter-state arms smuggling case.Authorities say he is linked to the Papla Gurjar gang, which is allegedly involved in smuggling weapons across states.

During the raid near Mohali, a vehicle tied to the operation was seized along with firearms and live cartridges. Police also recovered approximately ₹1.99 lakh in cash and two vehicles involved in the transport.
Sikandar’s arrest has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra’s wrestling community. His connection with a notorious gang poses serious questions about the involvement of athletes in organised crime.
