Four Arrested in Pune Murder Case; Gang Rivalry Suspected
In Pune, police apprehended four accused in the murder of Ganesh Kale. The case is being investigated for possible gang rivalry linkage.
Pune, November 03, 2025: In a significant development, Pune police detained four individuals in connection with the murder of Ganesh Kale, a 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver from Yewalewadi, Kondhwa Budruk. According to law-enforcement officials, the accused ambushed Kale around 3:30 p.m. near Khadi Machine Chowk, firing multiple rounds and also assaulting him with sharp weapons. Kale died on the spot after sustaining bullet wounds and head injuries.
The investigation points to a possible link with organised gang rivalry. Kale’s brother, Samir “Sam” Kale, is already in jail and implicated in the murder of former Pune corporator Vanraj Andekar, which was subject to a broader gang-war investigation. Observers believe that Ganesh Kale’s killing may have been retaliatory in nature, connected to the same underlying network of violence and power struggles.
During the post-mortem and site inspection, police recovered the motorcycles used by the assailants and collected CCTV footage from nearby petrol-pump cameras. The accused were taken into custody soon after, and firearms and evidence of conspiracy are now being examined. Senior police officials have formed several teams to trace remaining absconding associates and unravel the full conspiracy behind the attack.
While the full motive is under verification, preliminary statements by investigators suggest that the incident was not merely random but rooted in longstanding disputes and the quest for dominance between criminal factions in the city. The case underscores the growing challenge Pune faces with gang-era violence spilling into residential and commercial zones.
