India’s Upcoming e-Aadhaar App to Let Citizens Update Name, Address & Date of Birth from Mobile

The Unique Identification Authority of India app will let users update Aadhaar details like name, address, DOB from their phones, no centre visit needed.

Mumbai, November 03, 2025: India’s new e-Aadhaar app will let citizens update key details like name, address, and date of birth instantly through their smartphones, no centre visit needed.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is preparing to launch a groundbreaking e-Aadhaar mobile app that will allow citizens to instantly update their personal details — including name, address, and date of birth — directly through their smartphones. The initiative marks a major step in India’s digital governance and aims to make Aadhaar management simpler, faster, and fully paperless.

Currently, Aadhaar updates require citizens to either visit enrolment centres or use the myAadhaar online portal. However, this new mobile-based platform will bring convenience to millions of users who struggle with accessibility issues, long queues, and documentation challenges. The e-Aadhaar app is being designed as a secure, all-in-one solution that integrates digital verification, data protection, and identity authentication.

According to officials, the app will use AI-based face recognition and live photo matching to confirm a user’s identity before allowing any update. Users will be able to make instant demographic corrections such as name spellings, residential address, and date of birth. In addition, the app will provide an option to share Aadhaar credentials digitally via secure QR codes, eliminating the need for physical photocopies.

While most demographic changes will be available through the mobile app, biometric updates like fingerprints and iris scans will still require a physical visit to the nearest enrolment centre for verification purposes. This hybrid system ensures both convenience and security, minimizing risks of identity fraud.

Officials revealed that the e-Aadhaar app is expected to roll out by the end of 2025. Once launched, it will become India’s most comprehensive identity management platform, aligning with the government’s broader push for e-governance and digital inclusion. It is likely to integrate with various citizen service portals, allowing smoother KYC processes for banks, telecom operators, and public distribution systems.

Experts believe this development could significantly reduce the administrative burden on Aadhaar Seva Kendras while making identity management more efficient. It also promises to be a vital tool for citizens living in rural and semi-urban areas, where access to enrolment centres remains limited.

Users are advised to ensure that their mobile number is correctly linked to their Aadhaar to access the upcoming services smoothly. Officials also stressed that citizens should download the app only from official app stores to avoid security threats or phishing scams.
