The Union Cabinet condemns the car explosion near the Red Fort as a “heinous terror incident”, vows zero tolerance and will pursue perpetrators, collaborators and sponsors relentlessly.

Delhi| November 13, 2025: In a strongly worded resolution, the Union Cabinet has declared the recent explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort a “heinous terror incident,” reaffirming that the nation will stand united and unwavering in the fight against terrorism. The Cabinet described the act as an assault not only on public safety but on India’s sovereignty, cultural heritage and democratic values.

The resolution was passed after a detailed review of the situation. Ministers observed a two-minute silence for the victims and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. They also acknowledged the courage and quick response of security forces, police teams, first responders and local citizens who assisted at the scene within moments of the blast.

According to officials, preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was a deliberate attempt to destabilize national peace and security. The Cabinet has directed all security and intelligence agencies to conduct the investigation with maximum urgency and to map out the entire chain behind the incident—including planners, financiers, facilitators and on-ground operatives. Senior officials have been instructed to provide daily updates and ensure no lead is overlooked.

The resolution reaffirms the government’s long-standing policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism, stating clearly that those who plotted and executed the attack, along with their supporters, will face the strictest consequences. It emphasizes that the nation will not allow attempts at fear-mongering or disruption to weaken public resolve.

The Cabinet also appreciated the global support that poured in from various countries, many of which condemned the attack and extended solidarity to India. Officials noted that such unity reinforces India’s position in the global fight against extremist violence.

Beyond the immediate investigation, the Cabinet has asked ministries to strengthen surveillance around heritage sites, enhance urban security protocols, and boost intelligence coordination to prevent similar incidents. Key agencies involved in counter-terror operations are expected to expand digital monitoring, behavioural tracking and inter-state coordination to identify potential threats early.

The Red Fort, a UNESCO-recognized and historically significant landmark, is among the most sensitive security zones in the country. The blast has therefore intensified conversations around heritage security, high-density urban monitoring, and emergency-response readiness in major cities.
