Man Shot Dead by Friends Inside SUV on Alandi-Dighi Road, Two Suspects on the Run
A man was fatally shot inside a parked SUV during a conversation on Alandi-Dighi Road in Pune; two friends have fled, and police are conducting a manhunt.
Pune | November 13, 2025: A chilling murder on Alandi-Dighi Road has sent shockwaves through the area after a man was shot dead by two acquaintances while sitting inside a Fortuner SUV. The incident took place around 6 pm when the victim, identified as Nitin Gilbile from Wadmukhwadi, was conversing with two friends inside the parked vehicle. During the discussion, one of the suspects suddenly drew a firearm and shot him from close range, killing him on the spot.
The SUV was parked near the 90-feet road at Alankapuram, close to a transport office, when the deadly confrontation unfolded. Immediately after firing the shots, both suspects — identified as Amit Pathare and Vikrant Thakur — fled the scene, leaving the victim inside the vehicle. Passers-by alerted the police, who arrived promptly and sealed the area.
A forensic team and dog squad examined the vehicle and surroundings to collect crucial evidence, including fingerprints, ballistic traces and potential surveillance footage from nearby establishments. The body was shifted for post-mortem, and a murder case under relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused and the victim were well acquainted and had met voluntarily. However, a heated argument is believed to have escalated rapidly, leading to the firing. Police are examining the possibility of personal rivalry, financial disputes, or involvement in undisclosed business dealings.
Top crime-branch officers are overseeing the search operation, and multiple teams have been deployed to track the absconding suspects. Raids are being conducted in the suspects’ known locations as well as potential hideouts. Police sources indicate that both accused may still be within the district borders.
The murder has raised serious concerns among residents and commuters of the Alandi-Dighi stretch — a route often used by transporters, office-goers and locals. The fact that the crime occurred in broad daylight inside a luxury vehicle has further heightened fears about increasing violent confrontations linked to personal disputes.
Authorities have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation. Police presence has been increased in surrounding areas to prevent panic and ensure safety.
