Citizens Gather in Chain Protest for Traffic-Free Bavdhan
Residents of Bavdhan unite in a peaceful human chain protest demanding obstruction-free roads and better traffic management on the busy Lane 8 corridor.
Pune | November 13, 2025: Residents of Bavdhan came together on Sunday evening in a peaceful yet powerful human-chain protest, urging authorities to take immediate action on the growing traffic chaos and encroachments along Lane 8. Stretching from the Axis Bank junction to Omkar Garden Chowk, the protest reflected the collective frustration felt by thousands who depend on this corridor daily. Participants assembled at DSK Raanwaara Katta at 5 pm under the leadership of the Bavdhan Citizens Forum, demanding that their long-pending grievances be addressed without further delay.
The demonstrators held placards and echoed the slogan “मतदार राजा जागा हो !! नाही तर गुदमरेल श्वास !!!!”, highlighting how unmanaged congestion has turned routine commuting into a daily ordeal. Residents pointed out that the rapid growth of the suburb has not been matched by timely infrastructure upgrades, resulting in bottlenecks, unruly traffic flow, blocked footpaths, and unsafe conditions for school-children and pedestrians.
Many participants emphasised that their demand is not against development but against disorder. They stressed the need for strict enforcement against illegal roadside structures, immediate removal of encroachments, and the widening and proper upkeep of pathways. Their core message: essential civic planning should not be delayed while vehicles and pedestrians struggle through chaos each day.
The protest also revealed deeper concerns over governance gaps — from poor coordination between civic authorities and the traffic police to inconsistent roadwork planning and lack of pedestrian-first design. Residents explained that Lane 8 has become a prime example of how suburban growth, when left unmanaged, can strain public safety and quality of life.
By forming a human chain, citizens showcased unity and expressed that they will no longer remain silent spectators. They have vowed to continuously follow up with authorities and escalate their movement if no visible improvements occur. The gathering also strengthened the spirit of collective responsibility, inspiring more people to participate in future civic initiatives.
