Bomb threat forces diversion of Air India Express flight to Varanasi with 176 passengers on board

India | November 14, 2025: A bomb threat disrupted the journey of an Air India Express flight heading to Varanasi, prompting authorities to take immediate action and ensure passenger safety. The flight, carrying 176 people, was diverted after the threat was received mid‑air.

Upon landing, the airport security and relevant agencies secured the area and evacuated the aircraft. Passengers and crew were safely disembarked and transported to the terminal, while bomb‑squad teams conducted a thorough inspection of the plane and its surroundings. The airport remained operational but with heightened security measures.

After a complete sweep, no explosives or suspicious items were found onboard or in the vicinity of the aircraft. The threat has been logged, and an investigation launched by aviation and security authorities to determine the source and credibility of the alert.
