Online Hindi Competition Honors Youth from Non-Hindi States, Emphasizes Language’s Enduring Significance

Pune| November 15, 2025:Pune witnessed a celebration of linguistic pride on November 10 as the Maharashtra Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti hosted the award ceremony for the online Hindi competition organized for youth from non-Hindi states. The event, held at the Samiti’s office in Friday Peth, honored winners and participants, highlighting the relevance of Hindi in India and beyond.

Alka Potdar, Special Officer for Hindi and Coordinator, Department of Education, Maharashtra, emphasized that Hindi faces no threat. “Within India, Hindi connects people across states, and abroad, it serves as a unifying language among Indians, transcending regional identities,” she said while appreciating the competition.
Organized by the Global Hindi Family (Maharashtra) in collaboration with Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, and Bharatiya Bhasha Manch, the competition drew participation from 5,097 students nationwide, including 910 from Maharashtra. The contest targeted students aged 18-25 and featured a state-level Hindi quiz. Top performers received prizes and certificates, with monetary awards ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500.

The award ceremony was graced by 95-year-old Hindi scholar Jayaram Fagare, who expressed optimism for the future, stating that the enthusiasm of young participants ensures the language’s continued growth. Other dignitaries, including Dr. Ramesh Yadav, Dr. Sunil Devdhar, and Bundopant Patil, inspired students to engage with Hindi meaningfully. Pune-based winners included Kanchan Shelke, Samruddhi Bhalvankar, and Sania Mulla, who received ₹2,500 each, along with certificates and mementos. Certificates were also distributed to other participating students from Pune.
The event concluded with a poetry evening featuring performances by new poets and established literary figures, reinforcing the cultural richness of Hindi. The ceremony and subsequent literary session reflected the commitment to fostering Hindi literacy, creativity, and appreciation among youth, bridging the past and future of the language.
