Southern Star AWWA organised “ASMITA-Dakshini Kathan 2025” in Pune, celebrating inspiring stories of army wives. Special guests Dr. Deepa Malik and Alina Alam praised their resilience, courage and unwavering spirit.


Pune| 17 November 2025: The Southern Star Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) successfully hosted an inspiring edition of “ASMITA-Dakshini Kathan 2025” in Pune, honouring the courage, resilience and extraordinary achievements of army wives. The event served as a powerful platform for eight army spouses who shared their personal journeys of perseverance, identity-building and hope amid the unique challenges of military life.

ASMITA, one of AWWA’s flagship initiatives, is dedicated to showcasing the strength and resolve of army wives who shoulder multiple responsibilities while supporting their families through frequent relocations, long separations and demanding service conditions. Their stories highlighted how they rebuilt lives after adversity, pursued dreams despite uncertainties, and balanced personal aspirations with commitments that come with being part of the armed forces community.

The event was graced by two distinguished guests Padma Shri, Arjuna and Khel Ratna awardee and noted Para-Athlete Dr. Deepa Malik, along with Mitti Café founder Mrs. Alina Alam. Their motivational words added tremendous inspiration, encouraging participants to continue embracing challenges with courage and optimism. Senior veteran ladies and respected civilian dignitaries also attended, further elevating the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Komal Seth, Regional President AWWA, emphasized that “ASMITA-Dakshini Kathan 2025” represents far more than a single event describing it as a movement built on mutual support, self-belief and empowerment. She reiterated AWWA’s continued commitment to uplift and strengthen the armed forces fraternity, particularly the women who play a crucial role behind the scenes.

The heartfelt narratives shared at the event deeply resonated with the audience, reflecting the unwavering resilience that defines army families. From navigating long deployments to overcoming personal loss, the participating women embodied the spirit of determination that continues to inspire the wider defence community.

The programme concluded with a renewed pledge to inspire, uplift and empower every member of the AWWA family honouring the unwavering courage of the women who stand behind the soldiers and strengthen the spirit of the uniform.
