Pune | November 22, 2025: A disturbing crime has shockwaves rippling through Pune after a construction worker was arrested for allegedly murdering his cousin over a suspected affair. The incident reportedly took place on November 17, when the accused stabbed his cousin and later wrapped the body in a sack, dumping it in a secluded area near Katraj Ghat. The body was discovered when passersby noticed a suspicious gunny sack in a forested stretch.

According to police, the motive appears to be deeply personal: the accused allegedly saw chat messages suggesting his wife was having an affair with his cousin. Furious, he confronted the man, who agreed to leave and move to another worksite. But the accused is said to have tracked him down, carried out the attack, and killed him in cold blood.

The missing person’s case was filed by the victim’s employer after he did not return from a short outing. Police then identified and questioned the suspect using CCTV footage and other leads, eventually making an arrest. During interrogation, the accused admitted to disposing of the body after wrapping it in a sack.

Officials have registered a murder case and are investigating the entire sequence of events — from the initial confrontation to how the body was disposed of. They are also exploring whether there was any prior planning, or if the crime was a sudden, impulsive act.

Both men were reportedly migrant workers who moved to Pune from their home state for work. Observers say that such high-pressure personal situations in migrant communities can escalate, especially when relationships and trust break down.
