Pune Police Bust Prostitution Racket: Seven Women Rescued From Pimple Saudagar Spa, Owner Arrested

Pimpri-Chinchwad police raided a Pimple Saudagar spa, rescued seven trafficked women and arrested the owner. A stern crackdown on illicit spa-based sex rackets.
Pune|December 01, 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal activities hidden behind spa and massage parlour fronts, with their latest action uncovering a prostitution racket operating from a well-known spa in Pimple Saudagar. During the raid, conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), seven women were rescued and the spa owner was arrested for exploiting them under the guise of offering wellness and massage services.
The raid took place after police received reliable information that illegal activities were being conducted on the premises. Officers deployed a decoy customer to verify the claim, following which a coordinated operation was launched. The spa, located inside a prominent commercial building in the area, has allegedly been functioning as a front for attracting clients willing to pay high prices for illegal services. Once the decoy confirmed the activity, the police team immediately moved in and secured the location.
Investigations revealed that the rescued women belonged to different regions of India. Most of them had migrated to Pune in search of genuine job opportunities and were offered employment as spa therapists. However, after joining, they were allegedly forced into prostitution by the operator, who used manipulation, threats, and financial pressure to coerce them into offering services against their will. The victims were immediately moved to a safe shelter facility for counselling, medical support, and rehabilitation under the supervision of social welfare authorities.
According to police officials, the arrested spa owner had been operating the establishment for several months and had devised a system to ensure illegal services were provided only to selected customers. Payment details, communication methods, and timings were controlled to avoid detection. The police are now investigating whether more individuals are linked to the network or if similar establishments in the surrounding localities are involved in the racket. More arrests may follow as the inquiry progresses.
This case is yet another reminder of the growing trend of human trafficking and sexual exploitation occurring behind the façade of wellness centres. In recent years, authorities across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have conducted multiple raids on spas and massage parlours after noticing a sharp rise in complaints and intelligence inputs. Several women have been rescued from such setups, reflecting a concerning pattern of traffickers targeting economically vulnerable individuals. The issue also highlights the need for stricter regulatory mechanisms, background checks on spa operators, and periodic inspections to ensure businesses operate legally.
Experts argue that enforcement alone cannot solve the problem unless authorities also focus on rehabilitation and long-term support for the victims. Women rescued from such exploitation often require psychological counselling, job-training assistance, and financial support to rebuild their lives. Without these measures, many remain susceptible to re-trafficking. Police officials have stated that safeguarding the dignity and rights of victims remains a priority while continuing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks.
The recent action in Pimple Saudagar reinforces the police’s determination to take strict action against establishments misusing their premises for illegal activities. With growing urban migration and increasing commercial setups in the region, law-enforcement agencies are on heightened alert to curb such crimes. The case also serves as a wake-up call for property owners and commercial landlords to conduct proper due diligence before renting out spaces to businesses claiming to operate wellness or massage centres.
