Khadak Police Arrest Two for Selling 6,900 Narcotic Pills in Pune

Khadak Police arrested two men in Pune for illegally selling 6,900 narcotic pills including Nitrazepam and Alprazolam. The accused are in custody; further investigation is underway across multiple city areas.
Pune | December 2, 2025:Based on confidential information, Khadak Police carried out a targeted raid on 25 November 2025 around 1:30 AM at Jedhe Chowk, Swargate, Pune. Officers, led by P.S. Ashish Chavan along with Poni Londhe, Saponi Vhatkar, Poupani Kamble, and the police team, intercepted two suspects who arrived on a bike to sell narcotic pills.

During the operation, a total of 6,900 pills, including Nitrazepam Tablet I.P. (Nitzascen-10, Nitrafast-10) and Alprazolam Tablet I.P. 0.5 mg (Alpracsens-0.5), were recovered from their bike’s trunk and their residence in Kondhwa. Police also seized a two-wheeler worth Rs. 1,47,000.

The arrested suspects are identified as Sameer Hameed Sheikh, 40, of Saibaba Nagar, Kondhwa, and Sunil Gajanan Sharma, 34, of Sukhsagar Nagar, Kondhwa. Both were found in possession of narcotic drugs without a valid license or prescription, intending to sell them for intoxication.
A case has been registered at Khadak Police Station under G.R. No. 592/25 and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Sections 8(C), 22(C), and 29 of 1985. Preliminary investigation indicates the accused were sourcing the drugs from multiple locations and selling across Kondhwa, Kashwadi, Hadapsar, Camp, and Yerawada areas.

The investigation is being conducted by a team of six inspectors led by Mr. Arjun Kudale, under the guidance of senior officials including Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma. The accused are currently in police custody, and further operations are ongoing.
