Devendra Fadnavis criticizes the Election Commission for postponing polls, calling it legally flawed and unfair to candidates. He claims Mahayuti will sweep 70–75 percent seats and dismisses Sanjay Raut’s allegations.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar | December 2, 2025:Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis publicly expressed strong displeasure over the Election Commission’s decision to postpone local elections, calling the move a misinterpretation of the law and an unprecedented error. Speaking to reporters in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, he said such decisions create room for unnecessary litigation and disrupt a process that was already completed in constituencies like Nilanga.

Fadnavis argued that it was wrong to delay elections simply because a disqualified candidate approached the court. He noted that even the District Magistrate had informed the Commission that the process was lawful and need not be halted. Although he acknowledged that the Commission is autonomous, he stressed that the postponement has unfairly burdened candidates who had worked diligently and will now have to repeat the entire campaign cycle.

He also addressed political comments made by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, wishing him good health but dismissing his allegations outright. “We have no enemies. They are political opponents. But I don’t find it necessary to respond to baseless claims,” he said.

Fadnavis added that the Mahayuti alliance is poised for a strong performance and predicted that the BJP and its two allied parties would together secure 70 to 75 percent of the seats.

Addressing speculation about him not meeting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at a campaign hotel, Fadnavis clarified that their schedules did not overlap as he arrived late and left early the next morning.
