Pune | December 10, 2025: When the party opened applications for the upcoming municipal elections, its city office was flooded by a wave of candidates. Within hours, more than 2,100 aspirants — many arriving early morning — descended on the office, creating scenes of chaos, jostling, and frustration.

The scale of the turnout surprised even senior workers. By midday, over 2,100 application forms had been distributed, far surpassing previous election days. The long queues and rush to obtain forms turned the office into a pressure-filled environment of ambition and tension.

Among the aspirants were longtime party workers, local activists, and first-time hopefuls, all hoping to secure tickets for one of the over 165 seats in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
