January 3, 2026 | Pune – The sixth edition of the Nirmayan Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament is set to tee off in Pune on January 9 and 10, 2026, at the iconic Poona Club Golf Course. Recognised as India’s only Pro-Am charity golf tournament, Nirmayan has steadily grown into a prestigious sporting and philanthropic event that brings together professional golfers, amateur players, and social change advocates on a single platform.

Founded in 2015 by Pune-based professional golfer Rajiv Datar, the Nirmayan Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament was instituted in memory of his grandparents, the late Mrs. Nirmala Datar and Mr. Narayan Datar, both respected educationists. Since its inception, the tournament has combined the spirit of competitive golf with a strong commitment to social responsibility, making it a unique initiative in India’s sporting landscape.
The 2026 edition is expected to feature an impressive lineup of some of India’s most celebrated golfers. Among the prominent names scheduled to participate are Anirban Lahiri, Shiv Kapur, Shubhankar Sharma, S.S.P. Chaurasiya, and Pune-based Olympian Udayan Mane, along with several other leading professionals from the Indian golfing circuit. These professionals will be paired with amateur golfers in the Pro-Am format, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and shared purpose on the course.

A defining feature of the Nirmayan Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament is its long-standing partnership with Mudita – An Alliance for Giving, a non-profit organisation founded by Katyayani Balasubramanian and Ripple Mirchandani. Mudita is dedicated to expanding access to education for students from underserved and low-income backgrounds. Through this collaboration, proceeds from the tournament are directed towards providing STEM scholarships to deserving students across Maharashtra.
Over the past four years, the Nirmayan–Mudita initiative has supported more than 250 students annually, enabling them to pursue education in critical fields such as nursing, engineering, and allied sciences. Organisers emphasise that the scholarship programme not only supports academic aspirations but also helps build a skilled workforce that can contribute meaningfully to society.
Rajiv Datar has consistently highlighted that the vision behind Nirmayan goes beyond the game of golf. The tournament aims to create sustainable impact by leveraging sport as a medium for social good. By bringing together elite athletes, corporate leaders, and amateur enthusiasts, Nirmayan has succeeded in building a community that values both excellence and empathy.
The choice of the Poona Club Golf Course as the venue adds further prestige to the event. One of India’s oldest and most respected golf courses, the Poona Club provides an ideal setting for a tournament that blends tradition, competitive spirit, and charitable intent. Participants and spectators alike are expected to witness high-quality golf while contributing to a larger cause.
Sports and social sector observers have praised the Nirmayan Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament as a model for how sporting events can be harnessed for meaningful philanthropy. In an era where corporate social responsibility and impact-driven initiatives are gaining prominence, Nirmayan stands out for its consistency, transparency, and measurable outcomes in the field of education.
As of January 2, 2026, preparations for the tournament are in full swing, with organisers, sponsors, and participants gearing up for two days of competitive golf and purposeful giving. The 6th Nirmayan Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament is expected to further strengthen its legacy of combining sport, philanthropy, and education, reaffirming its commitment to creating lasting impact both on and off the golf course.
