Pune Weather Update: Cloudy Nights Ahead as Daytime Heat Surges Beyond 30°C
Pune
Pune forecast sees cloudy nights on Jan 27 with daytime temperatures above 30°C; IMD warns of moisture, rising temps and light rain chances.
Pune|27 January,2026: Pune is witnessing a noticeable shift in weather conditions as late January brings warmer days and increasing cloud cover during the night. The city, which typically experiences cooler and drier winter conditions at this time of the year, is now seeing daytime temperatures crossing the 30-degree Celsius mark, while nights are expected to remain cloudy, particularly on January 27. This change indicates a gradual transition in seasonal patterns, affecting both temperature levels and overall atmospheric conditions.
Over the past few days, several parts of Pune have recorded rising maximum temperatures, with daytime heat becoming more pronounced. Areas across the city have reported temperatures ranging between 31°C and 32.5°C, making afternoons noticeably warmer than earlier this month. Meteorological conditions suggest that weakening winter winds combined with increased moisture in the atmosphere are contributing to this warming trend, allowing heat to build up during the day.
Cloudy conditions are expected to develop mainly during the night hours, which could prevent temperatures from dropping sharply after sunset. As a result, night temperatures may remain relatively mild, hovering between 18°C and 20°C. The presence of cloud cover often acts as a blanket, trapping heat close to the surface and reducing the cooling effect typically associated with clear winter nights. Residents may therefore experience slightly humid and warmer nights compared to the recent cold spell.

The changing weather pattern is also linked to atmospheric disturbances affecting large parts of northern and central India. These systems are influencing wind direction and moisture levels over Maharashtra, including Pune. While widespread rainfall is not anticipated in the city, isolated light showers cannot be entirely ruled out in surrounding regions. Overall conditions in Pune are expected to remain largely dry but cloudy, with fluctuating temperatures over the next few days.
For residents, this shift means mornings may feel less chilly, while afternoons could be uncomfortably warm for late January. People stepping out during the day are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. At the same time, cloudy nights may make the air feel heavier, especially for those commuting late or engaging in outdoor activities during evening hours.
This warming phase follows several weeks of relatively cold nights that brought foggy mornings and a distinct winter chill to the city. With temperatures now consistently crossing 30°C during the day, the weather suggests an early sign of seasonal transition. Such fluctuations are common during the later stages of winter, when atmospheric conditions begin to change in preparation for the upcoming spring season.
In conclusion, Pune’s weather on and around January 27 is expected to be marked by warm daytime temperatures and cloudy nights, signalling a gradual departure from typical winter conditions. While no extreme weather events are forecast at present, residents should remain attentive to daily updates as the city moves through this transitional phase.
