Mira-Bhayandar-Vasai-Virar police Anti-Narcotics Cell uncovered an interstate drug network, seizing mephedrone, precursor chemicals and equipment valued at more than ₹100 crore during coordinated raids that led to multiple arrests

Vasai-Virar | February 06, 2026:The Mira‑Bhayandar‑Vasai‑Virar Police Commissionerate has carried out one of its largest anti-narcotics operations, seizing drugs and raw materials valued at over ₹100 crore and disrupting an alleged interstate synthetic drug racket, officials said.

The investigation began in October 2025 when officers from the Commissionerate’s Anti-Narcotics Cell stopped and searched six individuals in the area, recovering around 500 grams of MD (mephedrone) with an estimated street value of over ₹1 crore, along with mobile phones and vehicles. A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Kashigaon police station.

As the probe progressed, additional arrests were made and further evidence, including vehicles and mobile phones linked to the drug network, were seized. Leads from these initial arrests prompted deployment of a police team to Jhunjhunu, where an illegal MD manufacturing factory was uncovered. Officers seized approximately 10 kilograms of mephedrone, precursor chemicals and specialised drug-making equipment such as mixers, dryers, flasks, filters and scales. The total estimated value of all seized contraband and materials exceeded ₹100 crore.

Police said the action dealt a significant blow to what appeared to be a broad interstate narcotics supply network extending beyond Maharashtra. Authorities have arrested several suspects connected with the operation, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify additional participants.

Officials hailed the success of the multi-stage investigation and emphasized continued vigilance against organised drug trafficking, noting that partnerships with other state agencies were key to dismantling the network.
