Uttar Pradesh government under CM Yogi Adityanath unveiled its largest‑ever budget of ₹9.12 lakh crore for 2026‑27, prioritising employment generation, youth empowerment, free electricity for farmers and socio‑economic welfare initiatives
Lucknow| February 12, 2026: In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the 2026‑27 budget, which totals ₹9,12,696.35 crore approximately 12.9 per cent higher than the previous year’s allocation. The budget emphasizes inclusive growth across sectors including education, health, infrastructure, technology, agriculture and job creation.

A key highlight of the budget is its focus on employment for youth. The state government has reaffirmed its employment mission, setting targets to create around 10 lakh jobs and expand opportunities through skills training and technology initiatives like the Uttar Pradesh AI Mission and Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Programme, which includes distribution of 40 lakh tablets and smartphones to young people.
Farmers have been a central focus in the budget, which continues to provide free electricity for irrigation tube wells and increased support for agricultural productivity. Sugarcane growers will benefit from price enhancements, while irrigation and water infrastructure funding has been scaled up to strengthen rural farming sustainability.

Social welfare measures form another cornerstone of the budget. Schemes under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana aim to benefit millions of girls, including higher marriage support, and a dedicated allocation has been made for scooters for meritorious female students and enhanced safety and empowerment programs for women. Grants for girl’s marriages and other social security provisions also figure prominently.

The budget also commits a significant share roughly 27 per cent of total expenditure to agriculture, education and health sectors, reinforcing the government’s prioritisation of development and public services. Additional infrastructure spending includes investment in roads, bridges, hospitals and schools.
Overall, the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026‑27 seeks to balance fiscal discipline with growth‑oriented policies, aiming to boost economic development, reduce unemployment, enhance human capital, and support farmers and disadvantaged groups across the state.
