Pune | 21 February, 2026- In a significant step toward strengthening urban sanitation and community engagement, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced the “Swachhta Parv Awards,” a citywide initiative designed to encourage active public participation in maintaining cleanliness across Pune. The civic body aims to transform sanitation from a purely administrative responsibility into a shared civic commitment by motivating residents, institutions, and commercial establishments to adopt sustainable hygiene practices. The initiative reflects PMC’s broader vision of enhancing waste management systems while fostering a culture of accountability and environmental stewardship among citizens.

The campaign was officially announced as part of PMC’s ongoing cleanliness efforts and is structured to invite participation from a diverse range of stakeholders, including housing societies, schools, colleges, hospitals, hotels, commercial complexes, markets, and all 15 ward offices under the corporation’s jurisdiction. Registrations are scheduled to take place over the coming months, with the evaluation and implementation phase expected to follow soon after. Officials indicated that the awards will recognize outstanding efforts in maintaining visible cleanliness, proper garbage segregation, wet waste processing at source, and adherence to established sanitation norms.
