Pune Woman Loses Rs. 59.37 Lakh in Online Matrimonial Fraud; FIR Registered Against Multiple Accused

A Pune woman was cheated of Rs. 59.37 lakh through an online marriage scam. Chandan Nagar Police registered an FIR on February 19, 2026, against multiple accused individuals

Pune| February 22, 2026: A major online matrimonial fraud case has come to light after an FIR was registered at Chandan Nagar Police Station on February 19, 2026. The complainant alleged that she was deceived under the false promise of marriage through a matrimonial platform, resulting in a total financial loss of Rs. 59,37,059/-.

According to the FIR, the main accused has been identified as Viraj Balasaheb Bhosale, also known as Satish Burud / Yuvraj, a resident of Talegaon Dabhade, Pune. He allegedly created a fake matrimonial profile, gained the complainant’s trust, assured her of marriage, and convinced her to transfer large sums of money citing urgent financial and family-related reasons.

Between November 2024 and October 26, 2025, the complainant transferred money to multiple bank accounts through various online transactions. The FIR also indicates that the accused used multiple names and false identities while interacting with the victim.

Several others have been named as co-accused, including Shubhangi Burud, Sailey Burud, Omkar Shinde, Neha Omkar Shinde, Nachiket Shinde, and Shweta Nachiket Shinde, who allegedly assisted in facilitating the financial transactions and supporting the fraudulent scheme.The FIR states that the total value of the property involved in the offence amounts to Rs. 59,37,059/-. Following the registration, a formal criminal investigation has commenced. Authorities are expected to scrutinize digital communications, bank transactions, account holders, and the roles of all accused to determine the extent of the conspiracy and identify if other victims were similarly targeted.

This case highlights the growing risk of online matrimonial fraud and stresses the need for heightened vigilance when dealing with unknown individuals on digital platforms.
