Pune Police Nab Fugitive Vinay Raju Devkar in Yewalewadi

Pune Police arrest fugitive Vinay Raju Devkar from Yewalewadi; Crime Branch Unit 7 led the operation as part of ongoing investigation under multiple IPC sections.

Pune |02 March 2026: Pune Police successfully apprehended fugitive Vinay Raju Devkar, aged 30, a resident of Wadarvasti, Yewalewadi, Pune. Devkar was wanted in a criminal case registered under Kharadi Police Station FIR No. 166/2025, involving multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code including 189, 190, 191, 328, 351, 352, 115, as well as the Criminal Law Amendment Act and other relevant statutes.

The operation was conducted by Crime Branch Unit 7 Pune, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane. Officers on duty — Prashant Kapure, Nilesh Salve, Takawne — were patrolling the Bhonsalevasti, Yewalewadi area when they received credible information about Devkar’s presence. Acting promptly, the team coordinated with their senior officers and proceeded to the location to carry out a lawful arrest.

Upon spotting the fugitive, Devkar attempted to flee, but the officers successfully intercepted him. He provided his correct name and address when questioned, confirming his identity as Vinay Raju Devkar, 30 years old, Wadarvasti, Yewalewadi, Pune. Devkar was subsequently taken into custody and handed over to Kharadi Police Station for further investigation.

The operation was overseen by senior officials including Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime)-2 Rajendra Mulik, ensuring a coordinated and professional arrest. The Crime Branch team included Sarang Dale, Prashant Kapure, Nilesh Salve, Niranjan Lande, Girish Nanekar, Rishikesh Takawne, Neha Tapkir, Nitin Dhadge, Balasaheb Tanpure, Pratiksha Panse, Sonali Narwade, all of whom played key roles in the successful capture of the fugitive.

Authorities emphasized that this operation highlights Pune Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, curbing criminal activities, and ensuring timely justice. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activity, which can help in the swift apprehension of wanted individuals.
