Mumbai | 06 March, 2026: India secured a thrilling seven-run victory over England in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, booking their place in the tournament’s final after a high-scoring contest at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first after England chose to field, India posted a formidable 253 for 7 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the charge with a blistering 89 off just 42 deliveries, striking eight fours and seven sixes to anchor the innings. He was well supported by Ishan Kishan, who scored a rapid 39, and Shivam Dube, who added 43 runs to maintain India’s aggressive momentum through the middle overs.

India’s explosive batting ensured one of the highest totals of the tournament, putting England under immense pressure during the chase. England responded with determination and came close to pulling off a remarkable chase. Jacob Bethell produced a sensational innings, scoring a brilliant 105 off 48 balls, while Will Jacks contributed with the bat as England kept pace with the required run rate.
Despite England’s aggressive batting, India’s bowlers managed to hold their nerve in the closing overs. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah delivered crucial breakthroughs, restricting England to 246 for 7 at the end of 20 overs Samson was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock that laid the foundation for India’s victory.
