India Supports Every Effort to End War, Says PM Modi; Major Changes in Governorships

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s support for all initiatives aimed at ending global conflicts, while the Centre announced key gubernatorial appointments and strengthened bilateral cooperation with Finland.

New Delhi | 6 March, 2026Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated that India firmly supports every sincere effort aimed at bringing wars to an end and promoting global peace. Speaking during diplomatic engagements, the Prime Minister emphasized that dialogue and cooperation remain the most effective ways to resolve conflicts and ensure long-term stability.

Meanwhile, the Centre announced significant changes in the appointments of state governors. Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra, replacing the current incumbent as part of a broader administrative reshuffle. Officials said the changes are aimed at strengthening governance and improving coordination between the Centre and the states. In another development, C. V. Ananda Bose has resigned from his post as the Governor of West Bengal, creating a vacancy that is expected to be filled soon. The reshuffle is considered one of the major adjustments in gubernatorial positions in recent months.

Separately, India also deepened its diplomatic engagement with Finland through a series of bilateral agreements aimed at boosting cooperation in areas such as technology, trade, and sustainable development. Officials from both nations signed key documents to strengthen economic ties and promote collaboration in innovation and clean energy initiatives.

Government sources said the agreements mark an important step in expanding strategic relations between the two countries. The developments reflect India’s continued focus on strengthening global partnerships while maintaining its commitment to peace and diplomatic dialogue.
