New Dam Proposed in Taral Village to Boost Local Water Supply and Agriculture

Authorities have proposed constructing a new dam within the boundaries of Taral village, aiming to improve water availability for irrigation and domestic use, while supporting local agricultural development.

Nagpur, March 9, 2026: The state government has announced plans to construct a new dam within the jurisdiction of Taral village, located in Nagpur district. The project is expected to address long-standing water shortages in the area, enhance irrigation facilities, and provide a sustainable source of water for local residents and farmers.

Officials from the water resources department stated that the proposed dam will serve multiple purposes, including irrigation, groundwater recharge, and domestic water supply. The region has historically faced inconsistent rainfall and limited water storage infrastructure, resulting in recurring drought-like conditions during the summer months.
