March 9, 2026 | Mumbai : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday assured citizens that there is no risk of petrol or diesel shortage in the state despite rising global tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States.

Addressing concerns amid discussions about possible disruptions in fuel supplies, Fadnavis clarified that the central government has already taken necessary measures to safeguard the country’s energy security. The price revision had triggered discussions in several regions about possible disruptions in fuel availability due to geopolitical developments.

Fadnavis urged citizens not to create or spread unnecessary fear, emphasizing that fuel distribution across the state remains stable and uninterrupted. Officials have also indicated that supply chains for petrol, diesel and LPG are being closely monitored to ensure that any global developments do not affect domestic availability.
Meanwhile, developments in Iran have also drawn international attention following reports that the country could soon announce new leadership after the reported killing of its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. According to international media reports, the announcement of the new leader has reportedly been delayed due to security concerns amid tensions involving Israel and the United States.Authorities in Iran are said to be cautious about publicly announcing the successor, fearing potential targeting by foreign adversaries. Analysts believe the situation could further impact geopolitical stability in the region
