US Military Operations Against Iran Cost Over $10 Billion as Weapons Use Surges
Massive military strikes on Iran have already cost the United States billions of dollars, raising concerns in Washington about the rapid depletion of advanced weapons and the long-term impact on US military readiness.
March 13 | Washington DC The United States has spent billions of dollars in the early phase of its military operations against Iran, with officials revealing that the first two days of strikes alone consumed around $5.6 billion worth of ammunition and advanced weaponry. According to American officials, the heavy use of precision-guided weapons and long-range missiles during the opening phase of the campaign has highlighted growing concerns among lawmakers in Congress regarding the pace at which the country’s high-tech weapons stockpile is being used.

Officials indicated that the administration of Donald Trump may soon approach Congress with a request for additional defence funding that could reach tens of billions of dollars. The proposed supplemental budget would help cover the escalating costs of the military campaign in Iran. However, several Democratic lawmakers are expected to oppose the proposal, arguing that the US should avoid further escalation of the conflict. The United States Department of Defense said it retains sufficient military capability to conduct operations whenever and wherever required by the President. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell stated that the department continues to maintain operational readiness despite the high pace of weapons deployment.

Senior military officials, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, said the campaign is now gradually shifting from expensive long-range missiles to more widely available laser-guided bombs after gaining significant control over Iranian air defences. Reports suggest that since the conflict escalated on February 28, the United States Central Command has carried out strikes on more than 5,000 targets inside Iran using over 2,000 weapons, including advanced cruise missiles As the conflict continues, the US military is also redeploying air defence systems and other strategic resources from regions such as the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East as a precaution against potential Iranian counterattacks.
