Kabul | 18 March, 2026: Tensions escalated sharply in the region after Pakistan reportedly carried out a series of airstrikes on Afghanistan late Monday night, targeting multiple locations in Kabul. According to Afghan authorities, the attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 400 people, including patients, while more than 250 others sustained serious injuries.
Afghan officials have alleged that one of the strikes hit a rehabilitation hospital in Kabul, calling it a grave violation of humanitarian norms.

The Taliban-led administration strongly condemned the strikes, labeling them a crime against humanity. Government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid warned of retaliation and stated that Afghanistan would no longer engage in talks with Pakistan following the incident.
In response, Pakistan defended the operation, stating that the airstrikes were part of a military campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the operation, conducted under a specific mission, targeted bases allegedly supporting militant activities in Kabul and Nangarhar. He claimed that several militants were killed in the precision strikes.

Pakistan has also rejected allegations of targeting civilian infrastructure, including the hospital, dismissing such claims as unfounded. The incident marks a significant escalation in hostilities between the two nations, raising concerns over further conflict and instability in the region.
