Pune | 20 March, 2026: The Maharashtra Kesari wrestling championship witnessed an action-packed start as leading contenders made strong statements with commanding victories in their opening bouts. In the traditional mud division, Sikandar Shaikh showcased his dominance with an impressive 8-1 win over Pune’s Aniket Mangade, living up to expectations.

In the mat division, Shivraj Rakshe delivered a flawless performance, defeating Pratik Jagtap of Pune with a decisive 10-0 scoreline. His strong start has reinforced his position as a top contender in the competition.

Among other notable results, Mahendra Gaikwad advanced to the next round after defeating Vishal Bankar 6-1 in a closely watched bout. However, Amravati’s Dnyaneshwar Jamdade suffered a setback, losing 0-10 to Nashik’s Balu Bodke in a one-sided contest.

The opening rounds also saw dominant performances from several wrestlers. Shubham Shidnale defeated Kumar Patil 6-0, Raviraj Chavan secured a 12-0 victory over Tejas More, while Santosh Doravade and Sudarshan Kotkar also progressed with comfortable wins. Manish Raite advanced due to his opponent’s absence.

In the mat division, former champions continued their strong run. Prithviraj Patil, Harshvardhan Sadgir, and Prithviraj Mohol all registered convincing 10-0 wins in their respective bouts, underlining their title ambitions.

With several one-sided victories and high-intensity clashes already witnessed, the championship has begun on an electrifying note, setting the stage for tough challenge in the upcoming rounds.
