Pune Railway Ticket Inspector S.M. Dhamne Achieves ₹1 Crore Recovery Milestone in Ticketless Travel Crackdown

Pune Division’s Chief Ticket Inspector S.M. Dhamne has recovered over ₹1 crore from 12,020 ticketless travel cases, marking a significant achievement in Central Railway’s intensive checking drives.

Friday, March 20, 2026 | Pune, Maharashtra Pune: In a remarkable feat of diligence, Central Railway’s Chief Ticket Inspector S.M. Dhamne crossed the ₹1 crore mark in recoveries from ticketless and irregular travelers within the Pune Division. The veteran officer detected 12,020 such cases, amassing a total of ₹1,00,04,980 through relentless campaigns.

This milestone underscores the impact of routine ticket-checking drives spearheaded by Central Railway. Dhamne’s efforts align with broader initiatives to curb revenue losses and ensure passenger compliance across Maharashtra’s rail network. A seasoned railway employee, Dhamne joined the service in 1987 with his first posting at Daund station. Over nearly four decades, he has served at key locations including Ahmednagar, Kurduwadi, and Solapur, honing his expertise in enforcement. In October 2025, he assumed the role of Chief Ticket Inspector in Pune Division, where he has led squads for the past 16 years.

Railway officials hailed Dhamne’s contribution as exemplary. “His unwavering commitment has not only boosted recoveries but also enhanced discipline among passengers,” said a Central Railway spokesperson. These drives target unauthorized travel, a persistent issue costing Indian Railways millions annually.

Dhamne’s success story highlights the vital role of frontline staff in sustaining operations. With Pune Division handling millions of daily commuters, such vigilance prevents ticket evasion and supports infrastructure upgrades.
