Mumbai | 26 March, 2026: Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal has come under scrutiny after a purported objectionable video allegedly involving him surfaced on social media on Friday. The video’s authenticity remains unverified, but it has already sparked a political row in the state.

The controversy intensified after a man, claiming to be the brother of a transgender individual seen in the video, addressed a press conference and made allegations regarding Zirwal’s presence in the footage. The claims have not been independently confirmed.

Attempts to reach Zirwal for a response were unsuccessful, as his phone remained switched off. His office, however, stated that they had no information about any such video.

Reacting to the development, Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal demanded the minister’s immediate resignation, calling the incident a serious concern reflecting declining ethical standards in politics. He also urged for a prompt investigation into the matter and appropriate action.Meanwhile, senior leader Jayant Patil said he had not yet seen the video and would comment only after verifying the facts. Zirwal is associated with the faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, though no official statement has been issued by the party so far.
As the controversy unfolds, calls for clarity and accountability are growing, with opposition leaders pressing for swift action pending verification of the claims.
