Kharge Committee Finds Key Individuals Guilty in Mundhwa Land Scam; Report Tabled in Legislature

Pune | 26 March , 2026: A major development has emerged in the Mundhwa government land scam, with the committee led by Vikas Kharge submitting its report in the state legislature. The findings point to serious irregularities and hold several individuals, including private parties and government officials, accountable for the незаконities.

According to the report, Sheetal Tejwani, who facilitated the land sale, and Digvijay Patil, who purchased the property, bear primary responsibility. The land in question was government-owned, making the transaction a serious violation. The committee observed that the matter carries criminal implications, and further accountability will be determined through a police investigation.

The report also flagged lapses by revenue officials and staff who failed to update land records and allowed the transaction to proceed based on outdated 7/12 extracts. Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru was specifically held responsible for registering the sale despite clear indications that the land belonged to the government.

Additionally, the committee noted that the land classification had been altered improperly over the years, with officials failing to remove outdated entries since 1955. District authorities have now been directed to conduct an inquiry and initiate action against those responsible within two months.The report further mentioned that officials, including Santosh Hingane, may face administrative action for irregularities related to stamp duty concessions during the registration process.

With civil litigation already underway to cancel the transaction, and appeals pending before the registration authorities, the final outcome will depend on judicial and administrative proceedings.
