Mukul Chaudhary’s 54 Powers Lucknow Super Giants to Thriller Win Over KKR in Kolkata

Mukul Chaudhary smashed an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls as Lucknow Super Giants edged past Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets in a last-ball thriller. KKR posted 181/4, but Lucknow chased it down with 182/7 in 20 overs.

Kolkata | March 26, 2026: Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a dramatic last-ball victory against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, defeating the home side by three wickets in a nail-biting IPL encounter. The match was sealed by a sensational unbeaten half-century from young Mukul Chaudhary, who scored 54 not out off just 27 deliveries, including two boundaries and seven towering sixes.

Chasing a target of 182, Lucknow reached 182 for seven in 20 overs, with Mukul playing the defining role in the closing stages. Ayush Badoni also made a significant contribution, scoring 54 off 34 balls, keeping Lucknow in contention during the chase. The final over turned into a tense contest, with Lucknow needing 14 runs. Avesh Khan took a single to hand strike to Mukul, who smashed two consecutive sixes to bring the match level. On the final ball, Lucknow needed one run, and although Mukul failed to connect, the ball went behind the wicket, allowing the batsmen to complete a bye and secure victory.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders posted 181 for four in their allotted 20 overs. After a shaky start that saw Finn Allen dismissed cheaply for nine, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi stabilised the innings with an aggressive 84-run partnership off 52 balls. Rahane scored 41 off 24 balls, while Raghuvanshi made 45.

However, Lucknow’s disciplined bowling in the middle overs changed the momentum, with KKR losing Rahane, Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh in quick succession. At 115 for four after 15 overs, KKR’s scoring rate slowed significantly, with no boundary for 30 balls. In the death overs, Rovman Powell (39* off 24) and Cameron Green (32* off 24) lifted KKR to a competitive total. Despite the late surge, Lucknow’s power-hitting in the final overs ensured a thrilling win, handing KKR a narrow defeat at home.
