14 April 2026 :A late-night road rage incident in Pune turned fatal after a 40-year-old travel businessman lost his life when he was allegedly crushed by a car driven by an intoxicated man on the Hadapsar-Saswad road. The shocking incident took place around 1:00 AM near Wadki Nala, under the jurisdiction of Loni Kalbhor (Phursungi) police. According to preliminary reports, the confrontation began after a dispute over road space between the victim and the accused. The situation quickly escalated when the driver, identified as Krishna Koilwad, allegedly lost control while under the influence of alcohol. Witness accounts and police inputs suggest that the accused intentionally accelerated the vehicle towards the victim during the heated argument.
The victim, identified as Sagar Saikar, a 40-year-old travel businessman, was reportedly hit by the car and dragged for nearly 70 meters before being run over. The impact proved fatal, and despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. Following the incident, local police swiftly detained the accused driver. A case has been registered under charges of drunk driving and murder or culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Authorities are also investigating the sequence of events leading up to the confrontation to determine the exact circumstances of the crime.
The incident has sparked concern among residents over rising cases of reckless driving and road rage in Pune, particularly during late-night hours when traffic enforcement is minimal. Officials have reiterated the need for stricter monitoring of drunk driving violations to prevent such tragic outcomes.
