April 22, 2026 | Baramati: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday called upon voters in Baramati to ensure a “record-breaking” victory for Mahayuti candidate Sunetra Pawar, describing the election as a tribute to the legacy of Ajit Pawar. Addressing the final campaign rally for the Baramati Assembly by-election, Fadnavis said the contest was not merely political but deeply emotional, linked to the memory of Ajit Pawar. He expressed confidence that even without extensive campaigning, the people of Baramati would have ensured a decisive mandate in favor of Sunetra Pawar.

Referring to Ajit Pawar as a respected leader and “elder brother of Maharashtra,” Fadnavis paid tribute to his contributions and thanked leaders across party lines, including Sharad Pawar, for their cooperation in the electoral process following his passing. Highlighting Sunetra Pawar’s leadership, the Chief Minister noted that she assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister under difficult circumstances, driven by a sense of duty towards the people. While acknowledging that she may be relatively new to electoral politics, he emphasized her strong background in education and social work, stating that her recent performance reflects the capability to carry forward Ajit Pawar’s vision.

Fadnavis also assured that he would continue to pursue the truth behind Ajit Pawar’s accident, asserting that he would not rest until clarity emerges. He criticized opposition candidates for contesting the election for publicity, expressing confidence that Baramati voters would deliver a historic mandate.

Outlining key development projects, he mentioned initiatives such as river-linking works, water supply schemes, infrastructure upgrades, and healthcare facilities, adding that fulfilling these projects would be a fitting tribute to Ajit Pawar’s legacy. The Baramati by-election has thus taken on both political and emotional significance, with the outcome expected to resonate beyond the constituency.
