PCMC demolishes over 2,000 sq m illegal constructions in Pimple Gurav and Navi Sangvi, intensifying anti-encroachment drive across the city.
Pune, April 23, 2026: In a continued crackdown on unauthorised constructions, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has demolished several illegal structures across Pimple Gurav and Navi Sangvi, signaling stricter enforcement of urban planning norms.
According to civic officials, the demolition drive targeted unauthorised RCC constructions spread across key residential pockets. In Pimple Gurav, structures covering approximately 530 square metres were removed from areas such as Ganesh Nagar, Sainath Nagar, and Laxmi Nagar. Meanwhile, in Navi Sangvi, a larger action cleared around 1,545 square metres of illegal constructions in localities including Netaji Nagar, Gangarde Nagar, Vinayak Nagar, and Gajanan Nagar.
The action was carried out under the supervision of ward-level officials as part of a city-wide anti-encroachment campaign. During inspections, authorities found multiple violations, including unauthorised RCC buildings, illegal extensions, and temporary sheds constructed without necessary permissions. These structures were subsequently demolished using heavy machinery and enforcement teams.
Officials stated that the drive is part of a broader effort to ensure planned urban development and prevent unsafe constructions. The civic body has been under increasing pressure to act against illegal buildings, especially in rapidly growing suburbs where unregulated construction has become a recurring concern.
The latest action is not an isolated one. In recent weeks, PCMC has conducted multiple demolition drives across different wards, removing illegal constructions spanning thousands of square feet. Authorities have made it clear that such drives will continue, with strict monitoring and zero tolerance for violations.

Civic authorities have also appealed to citizens to adhere to building regulations and obtain necessary approvals before undertaking any construction activity. Failure to comply, officials warned, will lead to similar enforcement action without prior leniency.
Urban planners note that unchecked illegal constructions can strain civic infrastructure, pose safety risks, and disrupt planned city growth. With Pimpri-Chinchwad emerging as one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban regions, enforcement of development norms is becoming increasingly critical.
The demolition in Pimple Gurav and Navi Sangvi highlights PCMC’s intensified stance against illegal constructions. As the city expands, strict enforcement is likely to remain a key focus to ensure sustainable and regulated urban development.
