May 18, 2026 | Sylhet: Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim added another glorious chapter to his illustrious career after smashing his 14th Test century during the second Test match against Pakistan in Sylhet. The experienced batter also became the first Bangladeshi player to cross the landmark of 16,000 international runs across all formats of the game. Playing in his 102nd Test match, Mushfiqur produced a composed and impactful innings of 137 runs, guiding Bangladesh into a commanding position against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The milestone century helped him surpass Mominul Haque to become Bangladesh’s leading centurion in Test cricket.
The 39-year-old reached the three-figure mark with a boundary off Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas, receiving applause from teammates and fans present at the venue. During the same innings, Mushfiqur also crossed 16,000 international runs, further cementing his legacy as one of Bangladesh’s greatest-ever cricketers.

Bangladesh posted a massive second-innings total and set Pakistan a daunting target of 437 runs. Mushfiqur’s knock included 12 boundaries and a six, showcasing his experience and calmness under pressure. Cricket analysts praised the veteran batter for continuing to deliver at the highest level despite retiring from T20 internationals in 2022 and One Day Internationals in 2025.
