Seeking a resolution to internal rifts within the ruling alliance over the management of the prestigious Gokul Dairy, a delegation of former directors has requested media veteran Dr. Pratapsingh Jadhav to intervene and facilitate high-level talks with state leadership.

KOLHAPUR | May 21, 2026: The ongoing political conflict within the ruling Mahayuti alliance over the administration of the Kolhapur District Cooperative Milk Producers Union, widely known as ‘Gokul’, has prompted intervention requests to senior societal figures. A delegation comprising former directors of the dairy union officially met with Dr. Pratapsingh Jadhav, Editor-in-Chief of the daily newspaper Pudhari, requesting him to spearhead a diplomatic mediation effort. The former officials urged Dr. Jadhav to personally meet with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to de-escalate the rising friction, which they warn could heavily damage the financial stability of over four lakh local milk producers.

The internal dispute heavily revolves around seat-sharing arrangements and leadership designations for the upcoming Gokul administrative elections. According to former director Ajit Narke, because the friction directly involves top-tier political heavyweights within the district, an influential and neutral mediator is essential to broker a truce. Echoing these concerns, former director Karnasingh Gaikwad noted that delays in the election process have inadvertently created a negative public perception toward the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed that MLA Shivaji Patil’s aggressive stance against Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif is being orchestrated by behind-the-scenes political strategists, threatening the institutional health of the co-operative.

Veteran administrative figures Arun Dongale and Vishwas Patil reiterated that Minister Hasan Mushrif has consistently advocated for contesting the Gokul elections under a unified Mahayuti banner. However, the opposing faction led by MLA Shivaji Patil has explicitly demanded a “Mushrif-free” administration, creating an impasse. Responding to the delegation’s urgent appeal during an event commemorating the death anniversary of Pudhari founder Dr. G.G. Jadhav, Dr. Pratapsingh Jadhav assured the former directors that he would join forces with Minister Mushrif to discuss the matter directly with state leadership to safeguard the cooperative’s legacy.
