Apple Introduces Sleep Apnoea Alerts and Hearing Test Features for Users in India

Apple has rolled out two advanced health-focused features in India, allowing users to monitor sleep apnoea symptoms and conduct hearing tests directly through supported Apple devices and AirPods.

May 21, 2026 | Cupertino/New Delhi: In a major push towards preventive healthcare and wearable technology, Apple Inc. has officially introduced two significant health features for users in India Sleep Apnoea Notifications and Hearing Test functionality. The move marks another step in Apple’s broader strategy to transform its devices into personal health monitoring tools.

The newly launched Sleep Apnoea feature is designed to identify breathing disturbances during sleep by analysing sleep and respiratory patterns collected through compatible Apple Watch models. Users who show repeated signs associated with sleep apnoea will receive alerts encouraging them to seek medical consultation. Sleep apnoea is a potentially serious condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, often remaining undiagnosed for years.

Alongside this, Apple has also introduced a Hearing Test feature that allows users to check their hearing health using compatible AirPods and supported Apple devices. The system evaluates the user’s ability to hear different sound frequencies and generates easy-to-understand hearing insights. The feature is expected to help users detect early signs of hearing loss without visiting a clinic immediately.

The rollout comes at a time when wearable health technology is witnessing rapid adoption in India, particularly among younger consumers and fitness-conscious users. Industry experts believe such features could improve awareness around preventive healthcare and encourage more people to monitor conditions that often go unnoticed until complications arise.
