More than 100 cybersecurity executives have urged the Trump administration to relax restrictions on Anthropic’s advanced AI models, warning that limitations could weaken America’s cyber defence capabilities.
Washington, D.C. | June 16, 2026: A group of leading cybersecurity executives and technology experts has called on the Trump administration to reconsider restrictions imposed on advanced artificial intelligence models developed by Anthropic, arguing that the measures could hinder national cybersecurity efforts.
According to reports, over 100 industry leaders, including executives linked to major technology firms, have signed a letter urging the administration to reverse limitations placed on Anthropic’s latest AI systems, known as Fable 5 and Mythos 5. The restrictions were introduced following concerns over national security and fears that the models could potentially be manipulated to expose software vulnerabilities or bypass digital safeguards.
The signatories contend that restricting access to sophisticated AI tools may weaken the United States’ ability to defend against rapidly evolving cyber threats, especially as global rivals continue advancing their own artificial intelligence capabilities. They argue that Anthropic’s systems are not uniquely dangerous and that similar cybersecurity capabilities are already available through competing technologies.
