Major Traffic Curbs on MG Road, Camp and Pune–Solapur Highway
Thousands of devotees participating in the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi procession will lead to extensive traffic restrictions across Pune from July 10 onwards, with major roads in Camp, MG Road and the Pune–Solapur Highway witnessing diversions and temporary closures.

Pune city is set to witness extensive traffic restrictions and diversions as the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj continue their journey through the city. The Pune Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to avoid key routes, follow designated diversions and plan their travel in advance to minimise inconvenience.
According to the traffic advisory, several prominent roads in the Camp area, including MG Road and adjoining stretches, will experience temporary traffic curbs due to the movement of lakhs of Warkaris and the large-scale security arrangements accompanying the procession. Traffic restrictions will also affect the Bhawani Peth, Nana Peth and Rasta Peth areas, while the Pune–Solapur Highway is expected to witness significant disruptions as the Palkhi proceeds towards Hadapsar and beyond.
Authorities have stated that restrictions will be implemented in phases depending on the movement of the Palkhi. Roads will be reopened once the procession passes through the respective stretches. Parking will remain prohibited along the Palkhi route and connecting roads, while only emergency and essential service vehicles will be permitted in designated restricted zones.
Motorists travelling through Camp, MG Road, Swargate, Hadapsar and the Pune–Solapur Highway have been advised to use alternate routes and allow additional travel time. Heavy vehicles will also be diverted on certain stretches to ensure the smooth passage of the procession and maintain public safety.
The Pune Traffic Police have urged residents, office-goers and visitors to cooperate with traffic personnel, avoid unnecessary travel on affected routes during peak procession hours and stay updated through official traffic advisories for real-time information on road closures and diversions.
