A Vadgaon Maval court has remanded Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary to judicial custody till July 16 in connection with the Ketan Agarwal case after declining the prosecution’s request for further police custody.

Pune | July 03, 2026: A court in Vadgaon Maval on Friday remanded Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary to judicial custody till July 16 in connection with the alleged murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal. The order came after the expiry of their police custody, with the court declining the prosecution’s request for a further extension of custodial interrogation.

During the hearing, the prosecution argued that the investigation remained incomplete and sought additional police custody, stating that investigators had recovered digital evidence, including chats allegedly containing coded language and symbols, which required further analysis through custodial interrogation. The defence opposed the plea, contending that the police had already been granted sufficient time to investigate the case. After hearing both sides, the court remanded the accused to judicial custody till July 16.

Reacting to the development, Advocate Seoul Shah, counsel for the original complainant, said the investigation had reached a crucial stage and expressed confidence in the probe despite the accused being shifted to judicial custody.

“The investigation in the present case has reached a critical stage, with substantial progress made by the Investigating Agency. Given the grave nature of the offence, the Hon’ble Court had earlier granted 11 days of police custody to facilitate a detailed and effective investigation.”

Adv. Shah further stated that fresh evidence had surfaced during the investigation and that the investigating agency was continuing to examine every aspect of the case in accordance with law.

“At this stage, it would not be appropriate to comment on the evidence or the merits of the case, as the investigation is ongoing. The Original Complainant has complete faith in the Investigating Agency and the judicial process and is confident that all facts will come to light through a fair and impartial investigation.”

Police have maintained that the investigation is still underway, with digital evidence and other forensic material continuing to be examined. The case pertains to the death of Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort, in which Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and remain accused. The allegations against them are yet to be tested during trial, and both are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
